Match an air purifier to a room

Start with dimensions and the purpose of the equipment. A particle air cleaner and a monitor do different jobs. Measure length, width and ceiling height, then use the calculator to see the airflow implied by a chosen air-change scenario.

Practical steps

Compare the manufacturer’s CADR, operating setting and room guidance. Also compare replacement-filter availability, ongoing cost and practical placement. CADR concerns particles; it should not be presented as a universal gas-removal or health-outcome measure. EPA provides a useful overview of air-cleaner selection.Source [1]

Next step

Use the room calculator, then the air-cleaner comparison checklist. The highest modeled airflow is not automatically the right purchase.
